How to Open Cadillac Key Fob: 2014 and Newer

The 2020 Cadillac CT5 uses a new type of key fob, but it’s similar enough to the fob introduced in 2014 that the replacement process is largely the same. Just follow these simple steps for your Cadillac key fob battery replacement, and you’ll be all set!

1. Locate the key fob’s release button – it should be located on the side of the key fob case. When you press the button, the case will open to reveal a metal key.
2. Take out the metal key and you’ll see a small opening in the key fob. Use a flathead screwdriver to separate the sides of the case.
3. Now that you’ve opened the key fob, you’ll see a circuit board on one side and the battery on the other side.
4. Remove the old battery and carefully replace it with the new battery. The Cadillac key fob battery replacement uses a CR2032 battery — it’s important that you use the right type of battery or the key fob won’t work. Make sure the positive side of the new battery is facing down.
5. Put the case back together, and you’re good to go!
